Since May 2009, the medical community has been faced with a shortage of medical isotopes due to the extended shutdown of the National Research Universal (NRU) reactor owned and operated by Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL). AECL is now indicating the NRU will be in service by April 2010.
In anticipation of the NRU return to operation, MDS Nordion has carefully examined its facilities and processes and actively engaged its workforce in retraining exercises to keep skills current. MDS Nordion is ready to assume its role in the supply chain and resume service to the global nuclear medicine community:
- Our people are prepared;
- Our facilities have been improved; and
- Our transportation partners are prepped and standing by.
